Wow

I haven't blogged here in SO long! Sorry!

I have been creating a ton of stuff though.

I finally made a shirt all of my own design. I need to tweak the pattern a little bit, but I REALLY love the way it turned out. It was a custom request, so I don't have it anymore. I can't show you how the finished product turned out. But here are some pics:

Well, it kind of gives you an idea, even though these are unfinished pictures. The belt looks better hanging to the side, and a row of silver glittery studs were added around the collar to give it a more "rock & roll" feel, to better suit the client.

This shirt was so much fun I am going to make myself one. I live the off the shoulder sexiness of it, but get rid of the awkwardness of trying to keep it on my adding very cool, original straps. If the pattern tweaks right, I am going to make this in brown stretch lace:)

Hi! A new dress

I still have a crap ton of crystals to put on, but thus is the gist of it. It still has a ways to go, but it has to be done by Friday, so it's going to be non stop until then!

Yes! A paying job!

So, I finally managed to land a paying job, yippee! I am making all the dresses for a number in the spring show. It's Somewhere Over The Rainbow, and I am making this dress in different colors for all the girls

The finished dress actually has some flowers on it, so I guess they all probably will:-)

I'm so excited, I have to take measurements today, and hopefully get them done this weekend.

Also, I have made my first massively successful piece of real clothing. My sis wanted this made for her, but it fits me perfectly, so now we are fighting over it.

I'm going to make these for my store, I have about five different stretch laces that will be perfect.

So, as you can see, I've been pretty busy around here:-)

Allright. South Beach. Not sure it's for me. To much freedom maybe, leading me back into temptation. I made it to Thursday, but then had pizza. Not to much, I din't go overboard, but I did eat (and drink) normally since Thursday night. It doesn't help that I have been feeling like crap, flu-like without a fever. That's just an excuse though.

So, I am deciding whether to trudge along on South Beach, or to go back to Medifast. I know Medifast works, just not sure why it wasn't working for me last time. The fact of it is I like fruit, and dairy, and I can't have those on Medifast. I think I will give South Beach another week and see how I hold up. Even with the slip up, I did okay. I didn't gain weight, and I even lost an inch. So, it wasn't a complete failure.

On the rest of my resolution front, I have been doing very well. Obviously I quit making and keeping daily and weekly goals. That was very positive, so I think I need to bring that back. I have been doing very well on the social front though. I've really been overcoming my uncomfortableness with strangers. I have made a few new friends with common interests. Of course those relationships are slow to develop, but any real relationship is. I'm not dating, but if someone got around to asking me out, I would have to seriously consider it. I think I am ready to consider the dating world again.

I have been designing my heart out with several successes and several failures. It's been fun. I am completing stuff, wich is awesome.

Well, back to your incredible life now.... Thanks for wallowing in my pig-pen :-)

Wow, so many failures

Learning to sew is hard! I didn't even photograph all my nose dive failures from yesterday. Oh well. Live to sew another day I suppose.

I did make this last week so the baby has variety since she skate twice a week.

I changed the skirt from the last one, but I need to trim it since it's longer. I've gotten fairly quick at making this design. About two hours total.

I spent all night trying to make shirts last night. I used a few patterns, but failed hilariously. I did finally create a pattern of my very own and make one success.

I think it needs length, but it will try it on the baby. I made it small so I didn't waste so much material trying tee he he.

I made this as well. Not sure whether to laugh hysterically or burn it in shame. It doesn't look so bad on the dummy though. I love the scarf too.

Well back to the drawing board/sewing machine!

Busy Weekend

Well, it was a busy weekend in our design room.
This was the horribly wrong

The absolute perfection

The happy little princess (2)

(The dress wasn't quite finished yet here, we added some pretty flowers.)

And the first attempt

It fits me, except the sleeves are a little tight. Guess I will have to wait for the diet to start really licking in before I can wear it around. It's the first shirt I've ever made, so I'm proud. I will have to get a little better before I can sell them.

I got a new pattern and traced it in two sizes and got the shirt pattern traced in my size, and kid size 10 and toddler size 4, so they will be easy to make. I also got one more skate dress pattern traced. I have four dresses in my head I hope to get made this week. Fingers crossed, but it's actually another busy week, so I will have to burn the midnight oil if I am going to make it happen..

I know I hadn't blogged in a while, just wanted to let you know it wasn't because I forgot how:-)

Designing my butt off

I wish that were literal. I'm dieting, and it's really difficult, but I know eventually I will see some real progress and it will all be worth it!

Lexi and I made a duct tape dress dummy of her to make my figure skate dress making easier. It is a process of wrapping my daughter up in skin tight duct tape (don't call child services please ha ha) then cutting it off. She was wearing old clothes underneath so it wasn't on her skin. After we cut it off we covered the holes with cardboard and filled with batting and kitty litter. I got the idea from Threads magazine. If you sew, you should get it, it's awsome.

So, that was the result. Next time I am putting a hanger in it:-)

I am making a few dresses right now, but this one is getting close to done

It's on the dummy, yea! The trim is pinned here, but I got the top trip sewn on last night, and I am going to glue the rest I think. I have a very pretty sparkly sea green cut out of the same pattern, but need the thread to sew. We are headed back to Hancock right now (they also have a ton of trims for 80% off)

Have a great weekend!

Bragging it up

Well, she had the Winter Games yesterday, and she was skating two events.

She rocked her first event, the artistic, skating to Jewel's "Satisfied". There was a glitch in the music, and she lost her composure at the end. I think that was what cost her the medal. Still she was perfectly Satisfied with her 5th place, and they gave them all medals, which was cool.

We returned from dinner and she was stoked and ready for her next event the freestyle. She looked tired to me in her warm up, and she fell down. She was motioning to her coach that she hurt her knee. She was fourth of five to go out, and her piece was solid, and fluid. She was very beautiful, and we all felt like it was a solid first place performance.

She placed second, and was so happy to have finally placed above third in something lol. Now she wants to frame her dress, medal, program and picture so she can auction it off when she goes to the Olympics as her first Figure Skating Medal.

I'm so proud of her. She made the decision to commit to figure skating and she has worked so hard. She never complains skating hour after hour. She worked so hard for that moment, but instead of gloating, she took time to console another skater who struggled with her first event, and congratulated the other skaters she knew who won.

I think I'm raising a pretty amazing human.

Creating

Sorry it's been so long since I posted, but I have been CRAZY busy, or maybe just crazy. Take it or leave it, this is who I am.

So I haven't been creating really, just got through the holidays, and I made SO MUCH for Christmas gifts this year. It was fun though, and I think most gifts were loved madly...

I have been making bath salts, and they smell AMAZING, but my printer is not working, so I haven't been able to print lables and get them listed. sigh.

I am ALMOST finished with the Ice Princesses competition dress for her artistic. She is skating to Jewel's "Satisfied".

Here is the dress. I still have some sewing to do, and about 300 rhinestones to glue.

Just letting you all know we are still here, and still creating!

Wiiii (no more)

We got the Kinect from Santa, and wow! This is the coolest thing I've ever used! I can't wait to see what they come up with next. It came with Adventures, and Santa gave me Your Shape, and Alexia Sports. We all had a lot of fun playing it on Christmas.

I'm trying to recreate myself these days, and I have a structured plan. I banned fast food and beer. I have been doing my personal trainer on Your Shape, just the nice and easy program. I guess that is really where I need to be because I am so sore it hurts to reach for the remote control! We ordered KinectAmals and Dance Central, they just got here today. I tried out the Dance Central. What a hoot! Even my TV thinks my dancing is best suited to "Alone time in front of my mirror" ha ha ha ha ha.

boy howdy!

Good Evening!

It has once again been quite a while, sorry about that, but I got so busy with the holidays. Choosing to make all our gifts during my busiest work time was maybe not the most well thought out... Ha ha ha, it all worked out. I got almost everything finished.

For my dad Alexia did this amazing painting of Aspens in Sunset, so we bought a nice frame and called it a gift. He loved it.

For my stepmom and middle step-sister I made Rosemary, Vanilla, Lavender bath salts. They smelled so delish! I packaged them up into individual use bags and put them in a very pretty box.

My Stepmom got an amazing homemade Belini basket. It was this lovely lime green bowl with a red ribbon/bow glued to it. It had a very nice bottle of champagne and cool green flutes. I found two great cork bottles at Pier One and made both Blueberry and Peach Purees. It turned out AMAZING. A side note: she is apparently the Belini Queen ha ha,so that was cool.

For my sister I made an apron. She's obsessed with them. She'll love it, but it didn't turn out as well as it looked in my head.

For the nieces, the two oldest got hair flower barretts and bath salts. The twins and the toddler got tutu's in their favorite colors.

On top of that I made food baskets for everyone that contained mini-loafs of Ricotta-Orange pound cake,Cashew Brittle, Peppermint Bark, Chocolate-toffee bark, White chocolate covered popcorn, chocolate covered popcorn with Recees Pieces and peanuts, Cinnamon chocolate covered popcorn, Chocolate Double Crunch Cookies, and Carmel. I think thats all, phew! I also made these AMAZING Gingerbread cupcakes with Carmalized Mango Buttercream Frosting. FYI, I will never make them again! They were so absolutely phenominal, but that frosting took me about three hours total! Never again. I wanted to make Cranberry muffins, but I was DONE after those cupcakes.

So now I have the two turning three party on Sunday, then I am off to Vacation on Sat. Woo Hoo!! Road Tripping through Southern Florida, I can't wait!!
